Automated External Defibrillation (AED) is well established as the only effective therapy for cardiac arrest. The chances of successful defibrillation decline at a rate of 7-10% with each minute. Basic life support may help to sustain a shockable rhythm but is not a definitive treatment. We offer a comprehensive Automated External Defibrillation (AED) programme based on the necessary theory, backed up with lots of practical sessions. The course is run over half a day, and is made as informative, yet as enjoyable as possible, thus allowing the students to gain confidence in what is a new and possibly somewhat daunting skill.
